We believe that by being purposed and focused, with a positive approach, we can create warm and inviting conversations that go beyond the mechanics of getting a task done. We believe by cultivating PIE, we can become collaborators, innovators, and even friends.
Co-creators ~ Marianne Mason & Bart Crawford
Throughout 50 years of combined career experience, we have learned that we are best when we work together. Working together (in an office or in the home) takes practice, time, and energy. When we cultivate an environment that is positive and focused on bringing out the best in each other, we open pathways to a bright future. At the very least, we have a good time while we're in the process.
Our recipe for PIE includes mindful facilitation, practicing positive acts, and cultivating the connection with others. Whether you're looking to boost your community, wondering how to change a work environment or need a fresh perspective, cultivating PIE can benefit your mindset and every relationship you foster.
We are carefully curating content: blog articles, favorite videos, links to other content on the web, and a suite of delightful quotes from some of our closest family, friends, and treasured work associates. We'll post all of these in our blogs for your bite-sized consumption.

It was during a leadership conference when Bart and Marianne first met. There was something unique about their interaction: High energy, ideas abounding, loads of smiling and laughter. How do two facilitators find such harmony leading a group of young leaders within minutes? They coined the term PIE and chuckled at the fun and the utility of the acronym. Towards the end of their week long experience, they desired more; exchanging numbers and promising to meet again. And they did.
In 2013 the pair joined up again, this time with other leadership coaches. They discovered the value of food in building community and ease of sharing ideas. Seeing one another as humans first, remaining humble, and smiling were at the core of this experience. It marks the second successful use of PIE...surely, two for two was not by happenstance.
Bart and Marianne continued their friendship and had several more opportunities to experience PIE. Who knows where the good times will lead, but they will have a good time being in one another's positive company.
Here is what they discovered:
We've heard it said before that we can make lemonade out of lemons. Perhaps we take it one step further and create lemon meringue pie.
During the pandemic, Marianne realized that fun and laughter were precious. Was this an opportunity to be positively purposed?
Examples of PIE: She created literal pies in her home. And she brought PIE to the test kitchen at work (metaphorically). She introduced PIE to her colleagues and was intentional about planting pieces of lemon meringue (her favorite pie) in pictures and virtual meetings. She even hosted a house-warming party at the end of a challenging project at work.
PIE worked! Her colleagues had fun with it and shared their slants on using PIE at the workplace. Moods were elevated and the project successfully completed. PIE changes us and those around us.
